Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping

There are plenty of places to eat, shop, and enjoy the nightlife in and around Niceville. The best place for brunch is Basil & Baxter’s Kitchen and Cocktails. Shrimp and grits, beignets, and mimosas are the crowd favorite here. Hungry for lunch or mid-afternoon cocktails? The Boathouse Landing is a casual spot for al fresco seafood and drinks with a gorgeous view of Boggy Bayou. Or you can boat into The Locals Eatery for a contemporary take on smoked wings, bacon-wrapped meatloaf, seafood, and mojitos. 
 
If you're in the mood for something with a more beachy feel. In that case, LJ Schooners Dockside Restaurant is the place to enjoy a few beers on their deck bar at sunset, taste their excellent gumbo, and listen to live music from regional entertainers.
 
If you want to dress up and stock up your new home or add some Florida flair to your wardrobe, there are several shopping centers nearby, including The CrossingParkway EastOak Creek, and Palm Plaza

Things to Do 

If you love riparian nature but want to keep your feet dry, stroll along the Turkey Creek Nature Trail boardwalk. You're likely to encounter wildlife from hundreds of species, and you can compare notes with a picnic lunch at the charming pavilion afterward. While the water is always chilly, locals love to paddle their kayaks or stand-up paddleboards year-round, and there's easy access to a launch. 
 
There are dozens of sportfishing charters in the area if you want to bring home some fresh seafood, and species include grouper, bass, and sea trout. There are also excellent fly fishing gamefish, from bonefish and tarpon to permit and mullet.
 
Finally, if you love golf, you'll find plenty of courses nearby, including Eglin Golf CourseRocky Bayou Country Club, and The Golf Club at Bluewater Bay
